Mr and Mrs Mallinson

You know as a photographer, when you take one of those calls "my photographer has let me down" your heart just sinks. Thankfully, we where able to help Mr and Mrs Mallinson:)

The day was a perfect winter wedding, crisp and bright and full of fun and laughter.

It as a first of me, as I was not allowed to take any photographs of the ceremoney at all. It was rather nice to sit back and watch the exchange of vows and the love between this happy couple.

After the service we stopped of at a most unlikely spot and created some beautiful bridal portraits before heading back to Lea Golf Club for the fun.

Thanks to you and your family, I loved photographing your day and will catch up with you again soon.

Their day was just perfect, and despite being wet a first the sun eventually came out and they had the chance for a trip round in their vintage car.

Farrington Lodge was a super choice of venue for a winter wedding, and gave me loads of opportunity to photograph inside - and keeping that stunning wedding dress out of the wet:)

Lets meet Maisie

I am often asked what is the best age for a child to be photographed. TBH there is no right or wrong answer as at each stage of life your little one does so many new and interesting things.

Take little Maisie here, I have just been looking back through her pictures trying to choose which ones to put on. Each picture makes me smile, even when she was not smiling herself. She is a perfect little model, pretty, happy and a pleasure to photograph. She posed so well for the camera, it was like she was a natural and done all this before:)

My particular favourite is Maisie in her little dress. I used to buy the same dresses for my daughter and it brought back some lovely memories of how tiny she was. That was some time ago, next week I will be taking her for her hair highlighted for the first time and the years has flown past. That alone makes me really pleased that captured Maisie at this time, before her parents know it she will be toddling around home getting upto all sorts of mischief.

'I'd heard a colleague remark with sadness that she didn't have a single photo of when she was pregnant with her now teenage son, and I decided I was going to find out more about something I'd been thinking about for a while - getting some pictures done featuring my lovely bump! What to expect from a session with us .....

Creating a portrait is a fantastic investment and one that you will treasure forever and that is why I felt the need to write a little bit about what you can expect from your portrait session with me.

I am very lucky in business and actually turn down more work than I can take. This does also mean that we are very selective in the clients we work with - which is great as that it how we create you the very best images around.

Firstly and possibly of the greatest importance, is that you will be welcomed into our studio like it’s your own home. I am a Lancashire lady, with a bubbly personality, I don't have airs or graces and that I will never change.

This approach is perfect for all my clients; they relax, enjoy their session and leave positively buzzing having had a wonderful time.

Ok, I have to admit this approach is not for everyone, and if that is the case that is perfectly fine, there are plenty of photographers out there that will fill that gap - I however and am 100% Andrea and will not change to please other people!

There is no need to worry about your session, be it maternity that may involve some slight nakedness or family with child having a tantrum, even down to a puppy piddling on the floor - I have seen it all before.

I will be more than happy to visit you at your home prior to your session to discuss in full details what will be expected of you. This also is a superb opportunity to meet your children and forge relationships prior to coming into the studio - which can be rather daunting.

After your session I will then work on your images and create you a superb collection to view. Your viewing consultation can sometimes be a lengthy process with so many images to choose from. If you do have children you may find it easier of you leave them with a relative, as you will have some hard choices to make as to which picture we frame for your wall.

Once the selection process is done I will then make the final edit of your images; consulting you along the way if I have any questions.

The end result is a superb photography of you, your family, child, pet, wedding or maternity that you will treasure forever.

Finding Love is a piece of cake - or two

This week one of our wonderful weddings has been the feature wedding in the Lancashire Evening post once again.

Its always very exciting for everyone concerned and is a superb keepsake for Dr and Mrs Hodge.

Their wedding was a first for us; incorporating a traditional tea ceremony. It was great so see the elders being shown such respect in a family.

The whole day was superb, it was just one of those weddings where Shaun and I left totally buzzing. Great people, great church and venue at the Springfield House Pilling - http://www.springfieldhousehotel.co.uk/, guests that where fantastic to work with and of course the happy couple who where amazing and it was an honour to be part of their special day.

Please note that due to the extreme weather conditions in the North East of England last week, our lab has been unable to ship orders as quickly as usual.

The last date for guaranteed Christmas delivery is Wednesday 8th December. Orders after this date will be processed as normal and we will contact you when your images are ready to collect, however we can not guarantee these will be before our Christmas closure.

When Joanna and Andrew came to visit me last year, they had a really clear idea of how they wanted their wedding photography capturing. A traditional wedding was the order of the day and I must say it was a really refreshing change and a most enjoyable day.

Marrying at St Paul's Church, Warton is a perfect setting. The weather was kind and from start to finish everything ran perfectly - we even had a surprise sweep afterwards which was great fun.

The grounds at Garstang Country House Hotel were beautiful and the roses provided a perfect backdrop to creating a range of lovely bridal portraits.

Right from the wedding consultation Kayleigh and Matthew wanted a "fun" theme to their wedding photography and I have to say thats what we did.

Marrying locally in the beautiful St John's Church, Lytham and then onto the Clifton Arms Hotel again on the front, we had plenty of time to capture some magic.

I knew the day was going to be great when I saw Kayleigh's wedding pumps - now here is a bride that likes to party I thought! Kayleigh is amazing, she is just one of those people who just makes everyone happy. Matthew is really lucky fella and I am quite sure he knows that as well:)

A beautiful day in Blackpool

Working locally is now my preferred choice, so when Paula and Craig booked my local church St Paul's Church Warton and then onto the Devere Hotel in Blackpool http://www.devere.co.uk/home.html, I was delighted.

Paula and Craig's service was lovely and Mike the Vicar is such good fun, he manages to bring together the joy of the day with a funny joke; its always a real pleasure to work with him.

As all the guests head off to the hotel we make a quick detour to Stanley Park http://www.friendsofstanleypark.org.uk/ to create some stunning bridal portraits. Above is a small selection of what will be a great album.

The whole day was fantastic, the speaches have to be the funniest I have ever heard - Thanks Paula and Craig, you make my job such great fun!

I recently photographed this lovely little girl, the last time we met was when she was still in her mummy's tummy.

The session was great and it was like being around old friends. This couple always put so much into their sessions which really does pay massive dividends when we are looking to capture a collection of images.

I just love it when I have my baby's coming back in, it makes doing my job so special. This little lady has been on my First Years programme and this is just one image from a beautiful collection.

Like every business we have to do a bit of house keeping from time to time and like most we have policies in place to ensure we provide you the very best service possible.

Here are a few house keeping points that are worth noting:-

To book a session with us we do require full payment of your session fee at the time of your call. This can be taken by most major credit/debit cards and a confirmation letter will be posted out with your reciept.

If you need to re-shedule your appointment, we do ask for 24 hours notice. However, we live in the real world and fully understand that sickness can come on over night. If you or your child is poorly on the morning of a session, please call 01772632811 and we will be happy to re-schedule. However, we will only re-schedule your appointment once, so please ensure that the new date is suitable for you and your family. Booking fees are not refundable.

During the session - if your child is unsettled during your photographic session, we will stop for a play and a snack. However, if your child is still very unsettled, we will be more than happy to arrange an alternative date for you. This may be down the local park on a playfull location session, if you wish.

Viewing of your images - unfortunately we do not view images on line. In the first instance all viewings will take place in the studio. Here you will be able to view your images in a much higher resolution than available on the web and also be able to discuss the products in great details. After your order has been placed, we can make viewing online available for family and friends - there is a set fee of £20 for this service.

Upon placing your order we do require payment to be made in full. If need to schedule your viewing closer to your pay day, please just advise us as the time and this will be arranged for you.

No orders, what-so-ever will leave the studio with a balance outstanding.

We will happily accept returns, however if you have a problem with your images you need to contact the studio with 24 hours of collecting your images. No returns will be accepted after this time.

Refunds - if you are not 100% delighted with your images will replace, re-take or refund, which ever you wish.

Each month we are releasing a small number of FREE portrait sittings for those of you that want to take part in this competition, with a chance to win £1000.

To qualify for your free sitting, you will need to be up for making some seriously fun images and be prepared to bring along changes of clothes, toys and dressing up stuff for the kids. Teens, we are looking for different looks to don't forget to pack everything. Under 18's must be accompanied by an parent or guardian.

These sessions are released on a first come first serve basis each month.

There is no charge for the session but you will be required to give a fully refundable £15 booking fee. This fee is refunded at the time of viewing or can be used against the cost of prints.

From your session you then come back for a viewing and you will be shown the image that will be submitted to the National Kodak competition. Here you can purchase further reprints if you wish, single prints start at £35 with great value bundles being available.

Billy Boy

Its always great to have families that travel to my studio, and this particular young man comes all the way from Liverpool to be part of the Baby's First Year programme.

I first met his parents a couple of years ago when I was photographing a relative's wedding in blackpool, (and Billy was still a bump). I must say they are a cracking family and I always love spending time with them.

Now Billy is sure to be signed up for Liverpool at a tender age - well if his dad had anything to do with it anyway!

Well this was a totally new project for me and one that is very dear to my heart - jewellery.

Meet Declan

Well this lovely young man was a total pleasure to photograph; just like his sister before him.

Declan is on our Baby's First Programme and these are a couple of images from his first sitting.

I first met Declan's mum about 7 years ago and from what I recall, her newborn girl was the first ever baby to be part of the then trialing first year programme. The programme has gone from strength to strength and its fantastic that in 7 years we have been able to keep it completely free to be part of.

What is also great is becoming their family photographer. Over the years I grow very fond of my families and its a honour to be part of their lives as their kids grow up.

Bailey and Oscar are their names and being cracking dogs is there game!

What a pair of fantastic dogs ( I really am a dog person).

I must say we have been trying to photograph these two for most of the year but between them they have had more than their fair share of doggy mishaps. My two dogs used to be just the same, always up to something.

We are always looking for crazy pets to bring along their owners for some fun and mayhem in the studio.

Holiday on the Coast

What better way to celebrate a family holiday than to arrange a portrait sitting at your holiday location. Lets face it, its probably one of the few times in the year that the whole family gets together!

Well this is exactly what we did for this wonderful family. The weather had been up and down most of the week, however on the day the sun shone brightly (even if it was a bit windy).

We are ideally situationed by the beautiful Lytham coast and only 2 miles away from the luxury holiday villages Ribby Hall Holiday www.ribbyhall.co.uk , so we were really spoilt for choice on where to photograph.

In just short of an hour we captured a lovely range of photographs and some great memories for the family.

Now this young lady is something very special and what a wonderful first Christmas they are all going to have.

Eva is part of my baby's first year programme and she is a total pleasure to photograph. Its fantastic to work with a family that are so up for creating beautiful images. Each sitting her mum arrives with a big bag of goodies for Eva to wear - I love it.

These images are from Eva's second sitting - which for those you that dont know the babys first years programme is totally free of charge and you also receive a free framed print as well. The programme is designed to give new parents the chance to capture superb images of their newborn without the expense of the sitting fee and the pressure of having to purchase.

For me there is nothing better than to get out of the studio and into the great outdoors.

Working with adults and teenagers takes on a whole different concept when you are away from the studio environment. It also gives us the opportunity to create something very special and for you to relax and be yourself.

It can be a really hard task to get reluctant kids to "smile or take part" in a photo session when they dont want to - however, at our studio we never have this problem. We want your teenagers to take ownership of their portraits and have as much imput and fun as possible. This is why when you book a location sitting with us we take that extra bit of time to not only find out about your family and your surroundings but also what interests they have and how we can link the shoot into something meaningful for you all.

Its amazing that when the kids take ownership of how they want to look and are reassured that they are not going to look stuffy and boring, we always get the images we are looking for.

We are always looking to work with families who want that something extra special from their portraiture. It can be anything from skateboarding teenagers or to family gatherings with a difference.

Mighty Maureen

She is big and she is beautiful - meet Maureen

I think to photograph dogs you have to be a dog lover and Maureen is one dog that is hard to resist.

She choose to lap up her hour of fame in the studio and did not sit sill for a minute. Much to our amusement, she really was the star of the show.

We had to work quickly that day and we are all delighted at the stunning range of images we captured.

Terms and conditions

all children must be under the age of 5 to qualify for the free sitting. Siblings and parents can be part of the sitting for an additional fee of £15.
The comptition is free to enter and all sittings will take place mid-week. If you require a weekend sitting a non-refundable booking fee of £25 is required.
You will be required to give a fully refundable deposit of £25 to hold your date.
Failure to show for your sitting or viewing you will loose your £25 booking and will also exclude you from any further sittings.
The £25 is refunded to your card at the time of viewing.
Viewings will take place at our studio where the photographer will select your entry image. Failure to show for your viewing will exclude you from the competition.
Each month images will displayed on our blog for public viewing.
As part of the competition, we have the right to use your images for our publicity, marketing and competition purposes. If you do not wish your images to be used you must inform us in writing at the time of the sitting. We may still offer you the free session but your images will not be put forward for the competition.
You are under no obligation to purchase reprints. A price list will be provided at the time of the shoot for your information.
If you do wish to purchase prints, this can only be done at the time of viewing. A second viewing can be arranged and will be charged at £30. On line viewing can also be arranged and charged at £25. Images will be password protected and online for the period of one week.
The competition will be drawn by an independant Master Photographer on 1 October 2010. The winners will be informed in writing. You have 1 month after that date to take up the overnight stay. The wrap will be printed and your entry for the national prize of £1000 will proceed along with all other entries, according to their rules. There is no guarantee your image will win the £1000.
An image from each sitting will be put forward for the Kodak/Envisage Portrait competition with a chance to win you £1000. There is no guarantee of success.

Heskin Hall - A Grand Day Out

For those of you that have been following my blog, you will know that I recently put a request out for model bride and groom's to come a take part in a fantastic photo shoot at Heskin Hall, Chorley.

Models Tammy and Kal were the perfect couple on the day - still being very much in love really shows through on the photographs. The whole photoshoot was a roaring success and we even had time to do a portrait sitting as well. Another big thank you has to go out to my Mentor, Paul RG Hayley. Paul was awarded his Fellowship of the MPA the day before the shoot. That places paul as one of the very top photographer in the world. #

This was the day of all days.

The weather was just about perfect, both the church St James the Great in Rightington and Houghwood Golf Course, Crank are stunning locations and a wedding couple that are totally and utterly in love with each other - all of which makes a photographers dream!

The day unfolded with the bridal preparations and Shaun capturing the boys arrival at church. These little details make all the difference and are parts of the day that you each of you don't normally get to see.

From start to finish, Shaun and I felt privileged to be part of their special day. The emotion even reduce me to tears and that has to be a first in my book.

All week the weather had been terrible and then on Saturday just for Sharon and Neil, the weather broke and it was probably one of the hottest days this year.

Marrying at the wonderful setting of Bartle Hall in Preston, this lovely couple were up for some fun. With a great bunch of family and friends the day was set for success.

As a photographer, it is always a pleasure to photography someone's wedding. However, when the couple are ready to push the boundaries of wedding photography it becomes even more fun.

How to book your wedding photography

Congratulations to Laura and Richard Cross.

This lovely couple were married on Saturday 23rd may 2009 in Upper Denby, West Yorkshire.

We are now in the thick of wedding season, with most weekends over the summer being taken.

If you are looking to book your wedding, please note that even if our availability checker says we are free - we may have already reached our quota for that month. We do limit the number of weddings we book each month. Why? to be honest, its how we stay fresh, plus with portraits being so busy, the diary is bursting with appointments.

If you like our style of wedding photography, we are happy to send your a quote base on your specific requires for you wedding day.

Here are the simple steps you need to take:-

1. Email me a brief outline of your wedding day such as date, venue, number of guests and an outline of how you would like your photography to run. Don't worry too much if you have not got all these details, its the date that is most important. Make sure you leave your contact telephone number.

2. Tammy our Sales Manager will call you to let you know if we are free and run through your details. She will ask a couple more questions and will organsise for a quote to be emailed over to you and some additional information to be sent out in the post.

3. Once you have recieved your quote and extra details you can view at your leisure.

4. A couple of days later Tammy will make a courtesy call to check that you have received everything and to see if we can be of any further assistance. She will ask how our prices fit in with your budget and arrange for you to come and view the albums.

5. At a convenient time you can visit the studio. The albums are lovely and you have to handle them to truely appreciate their quality. We don't do any hard sell at your wedding consultation. However, we have wedding leads in daily and will always advise you of how many other brides are looking for your date. The couples that visit the studio for a consulation will always be given first refusal of a date.

6. Booking can take place there and then or you can telephone and details can be taken over the phone. A booking fee of £500 is required to hold your date and the completion of a MPA contract.

Then that is it - we are booked exclusively for your day.

All wedding quotes are bespoke to you. We use a range of albums across all budgets to ensure that we provide you with the wedding photography of your dreams.

A Grand Day Out

Why not make your photoshoot a special day to remember?

People often ask me why I dont have studio photographs of my children on my walls? Well there are several reasons for this, firstly is that my 2 year old is a typical boy and when he gets in the studio, he just plays up for his mum. The whole experience ends up being a nightmare with me never getting the shots that I want. (This is why we have commissioned a couple of superb Yorkshire photographers to take our family album this year, as he will be as good as gold for them).

Secondly, studio photographs are all in a days work for me. I like my children's images to be linked to a memory. Mothers day was great this year, we went to Myerscough to watch the lambing and I captured some great images of my 2 sat on a quad bike. Not posed, hair ruffled and laughing like mad. Its that picture I have on my living room wall and every time I look at it think of my lovely family day out.

Now meet this wonderful young man above - Beau. He is mad about trains, so I thought it would be a lovely idea to take him and his mum to the Railway museum at Preston docklands. True to form, Beau was a real star and I think you will see from the images above; these say everything about a little boy and his love for trains. Thank you to Beau and his family.

The BIPP/MPA awards this weekend were amazing and I never expected to do so well. The competition was stiff but thankfully my hard work paid off.

The competition is run by the only two professionally recognised photographic industry bodies; the MPA and the BIPP. I am delighted to be one of the top in my field of social photography.

So what makes my photography so special? with every client I try to capture truly distinctive images that tell a real story of who they are. I believe these awards demonstrate how I am able to create something that is more unique than "just" a photograph!

Yet another award from the Studio

It was recently annouced that we have received a Prestigious Award from Fuji Film Envisage for the above photograph.

This beautiful image was taken shortly before baby arrived and the wonderful parents contributed a great deal to their session by bringing along plenty of their own baby props, that made their session very special indeed.
